I don't know about you guys, but I think last week was pretty epic. I just got engaged, so there is a LOT of joy in those goodies!! I'm super proud of those bagels--hopefully you all enjoyed them!
A couple updates:
- I re-did the recipe for the Honey Whole Grain loaf. It's much lighter and lovelier now and also available in sandwich rolls (which I have been nomming like crazy they are so good).
- I also have a new recipe for Tomato Basil bread that's pretty fantastic.
- A new dessert includes mini tarts with local raspberries, blueberries, and foraged black raspberries I've been finding around Blacksburg in a shortbread crust. In other words, an immediate foodgasm.
- Finally, going back to the bagels... those are incredibly time intensive and I only got 4 big ones out of the recipe for 6. Two options: smaller bagels @ 4 for $4 or keep the same size and do $5 for 4. What seems reasonable to you guys? I can't make them if you won't buy them and I love making them :) Leave your comment in your order post.
Ingredient Origin Note:
- Blueberries (Newport/Sinking Creek, picked by me & my fiance :),
- Raspberries (Spencer/Local),
- Blackberries (picked by me all around Blacksburg),
- Lavender (my plant + on campus by Femoyer),
- Rosemary (my plant + the student garden),
- Thyme (my plant + my friend Cara's plant),
- Oregano (Cara's plant),
- Sage (my plant),
- Garlic (farmers market).

Round Loaf: French, Honey Whole Grain ($5), Tomato Basil ($5), Rosemary, Herb, Avocado + Sunflower ($7), Maple Walnut ($6), Thyme, Sage, Garlic, Onion

French Baguettes / Sub rolls: Rosemary, Thyme, Sage, Garlic, Plain, Herb: let me know if you'd like the traditional baguette or want the sub rolls instead. You still get the same volume, just in different forms (4 sub rolls vs. 2 baguettes).

Surprise Bread! ($5) ---I upped this from $4 to $5 because I usually add some unusual ingredients. It's never just a basic loaf or recipe. Ex: Last week it was the tomato basil with sun-dried tomatoes from Eats, herbs from Cara, and fresh basil from my plants.

Hey,
ReplyDeletesince I'm so happy with the surprise bread from last week (we're finishing it off now), I'm going to resist the urge to keep ordering the tomato basil loaf and go for a surprise again. By the way, my girlfriend says its "the best bread ever!" and she's really jealous that I can get it every week.
So...
-1 surprise loaf
ah man those bagels were too good. and the shortbread tarts, divine.
ReplyDeletethis week I'd like to order:
4 bagels (plain) - I say keep em big
1 order of surprise bread
Thanks!
For some reason I still can't add a comment by using my Google Account on the blog. So . .
ReplyDeleteThe berry tarts were delicious! The bagels were giant (and really good), so smaller bagels would be preferable to me. I think it interesting to know the origin of ingredients so it's cool that you listed them.
My next order:
1 order mini-tarts
1 order lemon sheepies
1 order herb bagels
Thanks!
Spencer
Alex: 1 Whole grain Sammich
ReplyDeleteDarren: 1 Whole grain Round
